Filed under: Handsets, Nokia, Symbian At this point, we've seen the Tube from everyone but Nokia -- heck, even Morgan Freeman got a chance to show it off -- and it looks like that trend isn't going to abate any time soon. Another round of in-the-wild shots of the supposed XpressMusic 5800 have popped up (yes, the latest prototype seems to have dropped the "XpressMedia" badge), showing off a pretty uninspiring keyboard that we can only hope has no bearing on the final product. Filed under: Handsets, Nokia Well, we've seen the Nokia 5800 Tube's keyboard, home screen, video player, and uh, Bat-Sonar, so we might as well keep going with these shots of the browser. Kudos to Nokia for delivering something just slightly more impressive this time around than we're used to from S60 Touch, but we're still not feeling the super-90s aesthetic -- check out those icons at the bottom. / Nokia to debut Tube / XpressMusic 5800?
Nokia has issued a super-secret press invitation to a web event on the August 18, where it will be unveiling two new handsets. This is designed as an 'ahead of schedule' launch, where those invited will be able to quiz a member of the Nokia team on design, product management and so forth. We reported on the new N85 last week, which appears to be an 'N96-lite', and having just passed through the FCC in the US we can assume this will be filling one of the slots. Tube, Tube, XpressMusic 5800? As to the second handset, what could it be? We can only hope and pray that it will be the Nokia Tube (though it seems it will be called the XpressMusic 5800 as we mentioned in a recent blog). If the Finns do spring that little surprise, then it would be one of the best kept mobile secrets in a while, absolutely laughing in the face of Apple's 'secrecy'. But then again, as one of the last manufacturers of an 'iPhone killer', there's not a lot left to be gained from being that secret really, is there? Si hacemos caso de lo que aseguran en unwiredview este próximo mes de octubre, concretamente el día 8, Nokia va a presentar oficialmente en Inglaterra su primer teléfono basado en Symbian S60 compatible con pantallas táctiles. Este teléfono es, según palabras del mismo CEO de Nokia, un dispositivo pensado para plantar cara al iPhone de Apple, con un diseño muy similar aunque con la gran diferencia de haber incluído un puntero para las tareas de más precisión o para poder escribir textos a mano alzada. Se desconoce el precio de este terminal, así como características más concretas del mismo, así que sólo queda esperar para poder valorar si los filandeses han hecho o no los deberes.
